Lindsay Point Q-fly outbreak

A new Queensland fruit fly (Q-fly) outbreak at Lindsay Point in north-western Victoria was declared on 21 May, following detection of a gravid female fly. This region is part of the Riverland Pest Free Area. If no further wild flies or larvae are detected it is anticipated that quarantine and movement restrictions will remain in place until at least 22 December 2019.

New phylloxera detections in Victoria extend the Maroondah PIZ boundary

Further to the Biosecurity Alert issued on 1 March 2019 advising of a phylloxera detection in a Victorian Phylloxera Risk Zone (PRZ) at St Andrews, Agriculture Victoria posted a new Industry Notice on 25 March 2019 advising of an additional phylloxera detection.

Vinehealth Australia and Australian Grape and Wine Inc (Australian Grape & Wine) advise that phylloxera has been detected in a commercial vineyard located at St Andrews in a Phylloxera Risk Zone in the Yarra Valley.

Further to the Biosecurity Alert issued by Vinehealth Australia on 7 December advising that PIRSA had declared an outbreak of Queensland fruit fly (Q-fly) in Loxton, this Alert is to update the wine industry on the conditions for movement of wine grapes grown in and transiting through the fruit fly affected area in Loxton.

26/05/2017 Brown marmorated stink bug warning
Six brown marmorated stink bugs (BMSB) were found in a shipping container of timber from the USA that arrived in Port Adelaide earlier this month. The timber was destined for the production of wine barrels. The container was fumigated and the insects killed.
