As a timely reminder for South Australian growers and wineries moving grapes from or to a Queensland fruit fly affected area, Vinehealth Australia released the Industry Notice: Movement requirements for winegrapes regarding Queensland fruit fly in December 2024.

The industry notice details any movement requirements for vintage 2025 and any accreditation, documents and obligations for moving grapes.

For the most part, there were no major changes from the 2024 vintage movement requirements. However, some changes included that there are new reference terms, a single issued Chief Inspectors Movement Certificate (CIMC) is now available and Victorian movement conditions have changed.

Industry meetings were held on 5 December for Riverland wineries, 14 January for Salisbury North growers and impacted winemakers and 29 January for Adelaide Hills growers and wineries. All sessions were well attended and clarified site specific requirements.

Growers and wineries are strongly encouraged to read the industry notice carefully if impacted by Queensland fruit fly or in the Riverland Pest Free Area. Know your biosecurity obligations.

Thankfully, deliveries transiting through the Salisbury North Queensland Fruit Fly Affected Area have unrestricted movement although need to be consigned to avoid spills and carry proof of origin.
