Another option for ensuring footwear is safe for your site is to provide rubber boots or work boots for visitors to use while on your property, that don’t leave your property.

You could ask contractors to keep a pair of boots at your property just for use in your vineyard and change in and out of their own footwear.

Such vineyard boots only need to be cleaned and sterilised the first time they are brought onto your property, unless you are concerned about the movement of pests between particular blocks within your property.

“By disinfesting visitors’ footwear, providing disposable shoe covers, or providing rubber boots or work boots, you’re doing your bit to protect your vineyard and contributing to the long term sustainability of the South Australian wine industry,” said Suzanne McLoughlin, Vinehealth Australia Acting CEO.
