Every year, Nuffield Australia awards scholarships to farmers to improve their knowledge. In the 2022 program, a farm biosecurity scholarship of $30,000 is being offered.
The scholarships give Australians the opportunity to study farming practices in New Zealand, Europe, Asia and the Americas and countries best suited to the scholar.
On returning to Australia, scholars submit a report and are expected to actively spread the knowledge and understanding they have gained among their fellow farmers and others.
“We’re thrilled to see a biosecurity scholarship being offered as part of the 2022 program,” said Inca Lee, CEO of Vinehealth Australia.
“There has never been a more critical time for Australians to upskill with biosecurity. With the increases in pest interceptions at our national border, we know there are more biosecurity risks on our doorstep than ever before.
“We encourage growers, winemakers and contractors to apply for the biosecurity scholarship, to ensure the wine industry is better prepared for incursions.”
The biosecurity scholarship is being sponsored by Plant Health Australia and Animal Health Australia. Applications close 6 August 2021. Find out more here.
