Vinehealth Australia has played an active role alongside Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) and regional wine associations in responding to the devastating bushfires in South Australia.
Using our Vineyard Register, we identified potentially affected growers in the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island regions, by overlaying vineyard maps onto fire scar maps provided by the CFS. These growers were contacted to assist in gauging the scale of damage to the wine industries in the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island.
We’ve also been assisting PIRSA with vineyard infrastructure information pertaining to quantifying potential damage and we’ve been keeping the South Australian Wine Industry Association and the Wine Grape Council of SA up to date with numbers of growers potentially impacted by these fires.
To assist with recovery, we have created a page on our website called ‘SA fires information’. This page links through to technical resources via Wine Australia and other relevant resources via PIRSA.
