You will have recently received your annual Notice of Assessment for the period 1 May 2019 to 30 April 2020. As has been the case for many years, the rate of contribution remains unchanged at $9.50 per hectare, with a minimum of $50.

Under the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Act 1995, owners of land in South Australia on which 0.5 hectares or more of vines (living or dead) are planted, are required to pay an annual contribution to fund biosecurity operations performed by Vinehealth Australia.

“Your contribution enables Vinehealth Australia to perform the important work needed to keep South Australian vineyards free of significant pests and diseases, in an increasingly intense biosecurity landscape,” said Inca Lee, Vinehealth Australia CEO.

“As demonstrated by COVID-19 – the most significant public health emergency in a century – we live in an interconnected world where pests and diseases can travel easily and spread quickly. COVID-19 is a stark and confronting illustration of the power of outbreaks.

“It’s also a reminder for all of us to invest time and resources into preventing high priority plant pests and diseases from reaching our national and state borders.”

We know this year has been challenging on many fronts and I encourage you to contact our Office Manager Jo Bainbridge on 08 8273 0550 if you have any concerns about payment or the information contained on your Notice of Assessment.

The due date for payment of your Notice of Assessment is 31 July 2020.
