Vinehealth Australia has won the inaugural Small Project Award at the South Australian Spatial Excellence Awards, for its Boundary Rider geofencing pilot project.
Held on Friday 11 August at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the awards celebrate the latest applications, theories and techniques being applied in surveying, remote sensing and geographic information systems.
Project Boundary Rider was created by Vinehealth Australia to explore the opportunities geofencing offered to biosecurity management. Geofencing has been used successfully in other industries, but its potential benefits for the wine industry were unknown.
The project was awarded for exploring an outstanding spatial solution to a problem, and demonstrating tight management control and technical components related to the spatial field.
The award was collected by Vinehealth Australia GIS Specialist, Brendan Tully.
