Vinehealth Australia is creating a series of brochures for tourists, tour operators and tour hosts, to assist with biosecurity awareness and good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of pests and diseases.
We are producing factsheets for tour operators and tour hosts, and we will be working with members of the media on articles related to this topic.
“The documents will provide biosecurity advice for anyone responsible for organising and hosting a vineyard tour, and for visitors attending an organised vineyard tour or event involving movement into or near a vineyard,” says Vinehealth Australia CEO Inca Pearce.
“Vinehealth Australia recognises the importance of sharing our vineyards with local and international visitors, however in order to protect our vineyards from pests and diseases, we need tour organisers and hosts to work with visitors to keep biosecurity front of mind.”
Tips for tour organisers include: plan the tour route to ensure phylloxera-free regions are visited first, and work with the vineyard host to ensure correct hygiene practices are employed when visitors arrive and depart.
Stay tuned for the factsheets, brochures and articles, coming soon.
