Vinehealth Australia published an article in Jan 2024 on Consistency in SA vineyard sales. The most recent data indicates a decline in the sale and transfer of vineyards within South Australia.
A review of property sale information held within the Vinehealth Australia Vineyard Register, which holds data on every vineyard in South Australia over 0.5ha, indicates a decline in the number of vineyard sales and transfers in 2024 compared to 2023.
Figure 1 shows the number of property sales and transfers between 2018 and 2024 based on calendar years. 2024 shows a decline from 2023, which had also declined from 2021 and 2022. 2020 was far lower as this was during COVID so the capacity to sell property was diminished.
It should be noted 2024 data is not complete as registered owners have three months to inform Vinehealth Australia of the change of ownership.
