Grapegrowers can now evaluate trunk diseases themselves thanks to the app, Grape Assess. Developed by the University of Adelaide with backing from Wine Australia, the app has been expanded to assist with evaluation and management of grapevine trunk diseases, including Eutypa Dieback.

Dr Mark Sosnowski from the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), AKA ‘Australia’s trunk disease guru’, has shared his expertise, along with other wine industry advisors, to build this module just in time for trunk disease assessments this spring.

The Grape Assess app allows users to rate infection using reference images, record GPS coordinates of evaluations, and estimate yield impact.

The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play Store.
