Vinehealth Australia’s innovative Wine Tourism Biosecurity training program began last week in the Barossa. This free training session aims to arm cellar door and tourism staff with dialogue and tools to keep South Australian vines healthy. Increased global trade and tourism brings increased risk of pest and disease spread.

In sessions held last week in the Barossa, participants from cellar doors, Visitor Information Centres and the Barossa Grape & Wine Association were guided through the program by Vinehealth Australia’s training manager Bec Weatherill. There was plenty of good discussion and ideas shared, including what to say to visitors who wander into vine rows.

This week, training sessions are being held in McLaren Vale, followed by the Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek, Coonawarra and Clare. Associations and wineries in all South Australian regions are encouraged to contact Bec to lodge their interest in participating in training, via email at admin@vinehealth.com.au.

Don’t miss this opportunity for free Wine Tourism Biosecurity training, which is focused on keeping South Australian vines safe. The program is proudly supported by PIRSA and SAWIA.
