Wine Grape Council South Australia has announced that it will once again hold the SA ‘Vinnovation’ Award in 2016. They are seeking entries from winegrape producers that have developed new ideas and that enhance vineyard production. PIRSA has agreed to sponsor the award which includes a cash prize of $2,500. The award was trialled in 2015 and the winner was a bin trailer with built-in scales and automatic readout to ensure high accuracy of bin weights, reduced handling and removing the risk of overloading.

The Vinnovation Award seeks to promote the sharing of new ideas which could be a machinery modification, change in practice, enhanced monitoring or a new way of doing business. WGCSA sees the awards as the modern day equivalent of the once common gadget days. Entry is free and open to anyone in SA directly working in wine grape production.

The winner will be announced at the 2016 SA Winegrape Growers Summit, Adelaide Oval Friday 17 June 2016.

Details and entry forms are available from www.wgcsa.com.au or call Peter Hackworth 8351 4378.
